Carrie Tollefson's high school career was unlike any you've probably ever seen or read about. By the time she graduated from Lac Qui Parle Valley Dawson Boyd High School in Minnesota in 1995 she amassed an astounding 13 Minnesota state championships including a record five consecutive cross country titles - a national record which still stands today.

After high school Carrie took her talents to Villanova University where she won the NCAA Cross Country Championship in 1997. After winning the NCAA Cross Country Championship Carrie was put on notice by doctors that a tumor found in her heel threatened to end her running career. Surgery was necessary. After a long recovery and not running for six months Carrie was determined to prove she would not only run again, but also be better than before. Her first run back lasted only 90 seconds, but it was a start. In the fall of 1998 the gutsy Tollefson finished 14th at the NCAA Cross Country Championship helping Villanova win the team title. She went on to win four NCAA titles in track including her thrilling 3000/5000 double win at the 1999 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships - the only person ever in NCAA history to get that double win. Carrie graduated from Villanova with a Communications degree in 1999.

In 2002 Carrie established herself as an international caliber athlete with her 11th place finish at the World Cross Country Championship in Dublin, Ireland. In 2004 she won the 1500 at the Olympic Trials with a front running strategy beating out the best 1500 meter runners in the country. Carrie's running career includes USA titles in cross country (2006) and track (3000m - 2006).

Today Carrie works on-camera with ESPN, NBC, NBCSN, ABC and USATF.tv. She does regular media coverage for the New York Road Runners including the TCS NYC Marathon. She's done commentary for several world class events including the Boston Marathon, Tokyo Marathon and the Foot Locker Cross Country National Championship. Carrie owns her own online podcast and video site called CTolleRun.com where she interviews national and world class athletes along with people of influence in the sport of running. An energetic and outgoing person, Carrie lives, trains and works in her home state of Minnesota with her husband Charlie and their three children Ruby, Everett and Greer.
