CRAIG VIRGIN, AIM HIGH 2000
2000 Special Guest Craig Virgin
w/ campers David Ward and Peter Bradley

After an eight-year battle with a life threatening disease Craig took up running in the ninth grade. Before his high school career was over he had won five Illinois State Championships in track and cross country. His state meet records still stand today. Breaking the legendary Steve Prefontaine's national high school record for the 2-mile run highlighted his high school career.

In college Craig overcame assorted injuries and illnesses to win nine Big 10 Championships, an NCAA Championship and qualified for his first U.S. Olympic Team. After college he went on to become a three-time U.S. Track and Field Champion, an American recordholder, a three-time U.S. Olympian in the 10,000 meter event and most notably a two-time World Cross Country Champion - a feat unmatched by any other U.S. male distance runner. He still holds the Olympic Trials meet record of 27:46 as well as the U.S. National Championship meet record of 27:39.
